Wig
or extensions
Both give you length and density, but they live very differently. Extensions are a permanent hairstyle you sleep, shower and train in. A wig comes off in the evening and puts no load on your own hair at all. The choice depends on your hair’s condition, your appetite for regular appointments, and whether you need the result around the clock.

When extensions win
When your own hair is healthy and dense enough, and you want length that looks and behaves like your own. Extension strands grow with your hair; you can tie them up, get caught in the rain and forget about them. It requires turning up for a correction every two to four months and keeping at least 10–15 cm of your own length.

When a wig wins
When you have little hair or it is weakened — after illness, heavy colouring or seasonal shedding. A wig needs neither length nor density underneath and adds no load at all; the hair beneath it rests and recovers. It also wins when you want a radically different colour or a look for one occasion: put it on, take it off, go back to your own.

Money and time
Extensions are a recurring cost: the stylist’s work plus a correction every two to four months, with the hair itself lasting three or four cycles. A wig is a one-off investment that lasts two to five years with careful handling and a professional service once a season. Over a year extensions usually cost more; over a single month, less. Exact figures are in the service price list and the ready-made section.
Common questions
Which is cheaper, a wig or extensions?
Over a short horizon extensions are cheaper; over a long one, the wig. Extensions need a correction every two to four months, while a wig lasts two to five years with no further outlay beyond seasonal servicing.
Can people tell a natural hair wig?
With the right selection and a corrective cut, no. What matters is a base with a hand-tied scalp imitation at the parting and a fit adjusted to your head shape. A piece without that adjustment gives itself away at the hairline.
Can you add extensions to very short hair?
You need at least 10–15 cm of your own length, otherwise the bond shows and will not hold. For a bob shorter than that, consider a wig, a half-wig or clip-in strands, none of which need length underneath.
